How do you write an interesting BIO?
Story
There is advice and recommendations for everything, but if you don't have a story, they're useless. A good story evokes emotion and it doesn't matter then if you've used the right hashtag or if you have a well-written BIO of your profile. And vice versa. If you don't have a story that evokes emotion, well-meaning advice will do very little to help. From time to time, come back to this blog and think about what you want to tell your followers. Content is the king.
BIO
It's your shop window. Instagram publishes posts to people other than your followers. And when one of them likes a post of yours that Instagram has posted on their wall, they click on your name and go to your BIO. That's why it's good to have it filled out in an interesting way. Experts advise that it should be like this:
Your name
Don't combine your company name with your name. It's confusing to Instagram's algorithms. It's your name and what's next to it that serves as the keyword. So add to your name what people will search for and you want to appear in that search. If I'm making this complicated I'll try to explain it with an example.
If my name on Instagram looked like this: Monte - dog / influencer, my name will appear to people searching for dog influencer. If my human adds the word fitness trainer to his name, it will appear to people who are searching for a fitness trainer.
First line
Experts advise that this should be your specialty. Or something you help with. For example:
I help with dog training in the city.
Second line
Here should be something that will set you apart from others, from the competition and should give a reason to follow you. For example:
Unique training methods
Third line
Here you should work on your credibility. For example:
Turid Rugaas Academy graduate
Fourth line
A call to action - a link to a website, or a call to write a message.
But what is the reality?
You probably guess that not just anyone can write such a BIO. It is really difficult. Therefore, follow what is in my blog BE FUNNY OR NECESSARY. If you know what you want to offer people, try to formulate 1 sentence that catches their attention and that's it. I change my BIO often because I am never satisfied.
And finally
BIO should be in line with what you want to offer your followers. If you're a dog who seeks out great cafes in town, don't write in your BIO that you've won 3 dog-dancing competitions. And vice versa. If you offer dog-dancing tricks to your followers, don't put in your BIO that you are a couch potato. Lots of dog profiles list your date of birth in the BIO. Can anyone advise me what this is supposed to achieve? Also, it's counterproductive and no one will start following you because of this information.
I think we have enough information in this blog, don't we? We need rest and a treat.
