How to find a company for collaboration?

25.11.2024
Everyone is delighted when they receive an offer to try a product or work directly with a brand. It's just that there are millions of dog profiles on Instagram and the chances of them choosing you are very slim. If you want to know how you can change that, read on.

When my human started Instagram, he thought he needed a lot of fans. So he paid for advertising, but it didn't lead to anything. Gradually, he educated himself, got inspired by world-famous profiles and today he has quite a few successful projects behind him that have brought us interesting products, valuable services and of course money. So, how to do it?

Attract with your profile

You won't get anywhere without having quality content, interesting BIO and successful posts. Any company that wants to work with you will look at your profile, read your BIO and check your last few posts to see if anyone is responding to your posts. Simply, to see if you have an impact on Instagram. This should be your homework.

Don't wait for a miracle

As I wrote above, there are millions of dog profiles on Instagram and you have to fight for your place. So don't expect companies to respond on their own. Find brands you'd like to work with and email them. If you only try an Instagram message, you might get lucky, but most likely you won't get a response or someone will refer you to a company email.

In the email, introduce yourself, state why you want to work with their company and include a link to your Instagram profile. If the email reaches the right person, they'll click through to your Instagram profile. They'll check what I wrote above and if your posts align with company's values, you're on good path. That said, for example, if you're creating about barf, you're hardly going to get picked up by a company that sells kibble.

Build a database

Think about what brands you would like to work with. They should correlate with the content of your Instagram profile. Then make a list with email contacts. If you want to collaborate with dog companies, make a list of the ones that are close to your heart. Dog food, treats, collars, clothing, medications, trainers, dog salons, cosmetics... It's really a lot.

If you want to work with non-dog businesses, it will be more challenging. You really have to impress. The percentage of success is very small, but my human has arranged collaborations in the past to promote events, promote new operations, vodka advertising, children's books, and we are currently fine tuning a luxury backpack collaboration. And I know dogs that do advertising for cars or hotels.

Set the balance

A large and powerful company won't choose you if you have a small footprint and the company needs to sell a lot of products. Conversely, if you have a strong impact, you won't write an email to a firm that won't pay you. Try looking for adequate partners. And most importantly, don't put the terms as the first one. First you need to be sure that the company wants to work with you, then negotiate the terms. The first cooperation with the company can be arranged for a short period of time and in exchange for products. If you are mutually satisfied, you can take the cooperation to a higher level, longer time, and larger volume.

Build trust

There are a lot of influencers and, unfortunately, dogfluencers who post advertising like crazy. One week one company, the next week another company and your followers are slowly losing track of what treats are healthy, which kibble to buy and which salon is the best. We have a policy that when we partner with a dog food, we actually eat it and don't mix it with another brand's food. We don't work for the competition during the campaign. Or if I wear a DogCopenhagen collar, I don't do advertising for another company during my contract with Dog Copenhagen. That's our policy. I have to be happy and truthful, otherwise the advertising is pointless. I can't advertise on some clothes and go on the street in something else. Be fair and trustworthy.

You are entering the world of dog business, so I hope this blog has helped you at least a little.
