We train tricks and not obedience
Training is supposed to be fun. You've probably heard that before. But training a dog to walk gracefully on a leash or to sit when someone wants to pet him isn't fun, is it?
Many people think their dog isn't ready for trick training because they haven't mastered basic obedience yet. Believe me, it's the other way around. For many dogs, tricks help them learn graceful behavior and stabilize emotions.
When you focus on all of your dog's "problems" and expect specific training results, it can cause increased stress for both you and the dog. But when you teach your dog tricks, it won't be nearly as stressful as regular "obedience" training.
When you teach a dog a trick, you are usually doing it for the joy of it, not to solve some obedience problem. Therefore, your approach is more relaxed and you enjoy the whole training with your dog. You even master the trick sooner.
We train tricks with my favourite humane, not obedience. And in my blogs I hope to convince you that it is better and more fun. We have a great relationship because of it, we trust each other more and enjoy the journey.
